‘Sleepless in Seattle’ Is Coming to Amazon Prime This Month

The Nora Ephron-directed rom-com classic premiered 25 years ago, and it’s still a favorite for so many reasons. For one, it stars the dynamic duo of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. When Sleepless in Seattle was released in 1993, they had already starred together in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and would go on to headline another beloved Nora Ephron feature in You’ve Got Mail (1998). These films are all supremely quotable, but when it comes to Sleepless, who can forget the final scene atop the Empire State Building?

If you can already quote every line of Sleepless in Seattle and are looking for something new, there are a few other launches of note on Prime this month. The Maya Rudolph- and Fred Armisen-led Prime Original series Forever (2018) has garnered rave reviews, especially for Rudolph’s multifaceted and moving performance. On Chesil Beach (2018), a film adaptation of the Ian McEwan novel of the same name has also been released on the platform. It stars Saoirse Ronan and Billy Howle as a young couple struggling in their new marriage. The Tom Cruise classic Jerry Maguire (1996) is also now available—time for a re-watch?
And who remembers 1991’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves starring Kevin Costner, Alan Rickman, and Morgan Freeman? You can watch it on Prime now too. Also be sure to catch Smokey and the Bandit (1997) and Stronger (2017) on Prime while you can.
