Cutting your own hair can be risky and hitting the salon can be expensive. Fortunately, there’s a fun and easy way for you to refresh your hairstyle at home! Just grab some fake bangs or hair extensions and create the glamorous hair ‘do of your dreams. In this episode of Make Me Up, host Melanie Sutrathada (@melaniesutra) shares some useful tips and tricks for applying your first set of hair extensions.

“I decided a while ago that I wanted to get bangs and then I was like, ‘Maybe not,’” the host explains.

Instead, she decided to apply a set of clip-in bangs by the company Insert Name Here. “This company is all about creating pieces that are meant to be wearable, that look just so effortless, so real, so authentic,” Melanie says.

The bangs that Insert Name Here makes come in a wide variety of colors and styles, so there’s something for everyone. “This is called the ZOOEY,” Melanie says, holding up a set of four-inch clip-in bangs. “What I like about this is you can also bring these to the salon and get them custom fitted and framed for your face. If you are someone who has color in your hair, you can also get these exactly matched. It is 100% human hair so you can style it, you can put heat on it, you can color it, you can wash it.”

Not only are the clip-in bangs stylish, they’re also surprisingly easy to apply. “What I would do is I would put my hair in a center part, or whatever part you like and you’re gonna pop that top clip in,” Melanie says, revealing the back of the hairpiece, where the hair clips are affixed. “And then you’re gonna clip in these back pieces.”

But Insert Name Here makes more than just bangs. Next, Melanie shows how to apply one of their LOLA ponytail extensions. “So you’re gonna start with your hair in either a low ponytail or a high ponytail,” she explains. “And then you’re going to wrap this baby around that ponytail elastic. It’s got this really easy comb you can just pop in. And then, you’re gonna take this extra hair that they so thoughtfully created on the side, and wrap it around to cover the elastic.”

Once Melanie is done applying the ponytail extension, she shows off the completed look. Even Melanie, herself, is surprised by her glamorous transformation. “It looks so good! I feel like a whole new woman,” she concludes. “It’s shiny. It’s really pretty.”
