Skiers Shred City Park During Colorado Blizzard

Late this week, Eldora Mountain Resort—Boulder, Colorado's local hill—was closed due to a blizzard that slammed the Centennial State.

However, that didn't stop skiers from throwing down within the city limits.

Our friends at Powderchasers (who have a POWDER channel; check it out) were on the scene to capture the action at Chautauqua Park.

Powderchasers solicited names for the homebrew ski hill, and commenters delivered, with this being the stand out: "Mount core shot." You know what they say about skis—tools, not jewels.

Many of the skiers in Powderchasers' video were University of Colorado Boulder students who, on Thursday, weren't playing hooky—they got a day off.

The massive storm wrapped up Friday morning, with some towns in Colorado picking up more than 40 inches of snow.

CBS News says Boulder saw 20 inches—that's plenty to build a jump or two.

Eldora was closed Thursday and reopened late Friday with limited terrain offerings. The resort saw 46 inches of snow in 48 hours, setting it up nicely for the season's final four weeks.
