Skier's "Perfectly Synced" Backflip Video Is Immensely Satisfying

GoPro asks viewers to "rate this transition" in a clip posted to their Instagram page two days ago as an entry to the #GoProSnow Challenge.

The award recipient, the already popular skier @anthonyroobert, earned $1,000 for the POV footage of the perfectly synced front flip.

POV footage is always mind blowing. It's one thing to see pro skiers huck terrain through the lens of a filmmaker, where things are edited and color graded to perfection.

You think, "well, I can't do that, because it's set up perfectly, and they could have tried it 50 times before stomping it..."

It's quite another to see the same stunt through the skier's own eyes. It makes the trick seem so much more raw and... dare I say... doable?

Alright, maybe not, but it's fun to dream about trying this kind of stuff.

Shout out to Anthony for making it look so dang easy.

The beauty of GoPro (and social media, for that matter) is that no longer do skiers need to wait to get picked up by Warren Miller or TGR or Matchstick to make their debut. They simply go out into the wild, do something epic, and post the footage.

The days of Scot Schmidt being handed $100 for every extreme line he skied for filmmakers visiting Squ*w (now Palisades Tahoe) are over.

That being said, it's only my guess what legends like Schmidt think of the changing ski scene. I'd bet he's stoked on it, though. Progression is always a plus.

Anthony, by the way, is dialed at making things look professional on his own: his IG page is basically an aestheticized, cinematic take on skiing, with sunsets, powder, and tricks galore.

Check out footage from one of his many sunset rides below.

Who said Instagram is dead?

#YOLO, #SkiIsLife, #PrayForPowPow.

Anthony's doing it all.
