Skier Launches Off Jump Under The Beautiful Midnight Sun

The snow's soft and inviting. The sun blazes bright orange, melting into a multi-colored puddle along the horizon. And the clock strikes midnight.

These magic moments are only possible far North along the edge of the Arctic Circle, where the days become nights without losing their light. Watch as pro skier Emil Granbom laces a perfect cork 720 under a beautiful midnight sun.

This clip was shot at Riksgransen, or Riks, which sits on Sweden's northern border with Norway. The resort and surrounding mountains are something of a mecca for Nordic skiers, drawing a talented crew of pros in pursuit of long days and brief nights spring after spring.

Emil Granbom, the skier in this video, appeared in The Bunch's excellent "Many Fantasies Later," which won "Jury's Pick" and "Best Editing" at the 2022 iF3 awards.

It wasn't your standard ski movie. Gone are trite athlete interviews and predictable segment-by-segment formats. Instead, "Many Fantasies Later" documents the madness of producing a ski film, delivering a free-form experience that ebbs and flows without a rigid structure.
