Skier Gives The "Only" Reason Anybody Should Ski In Jeans

Professional skier Nick Goepper is bringing jeans back.

In a recent Instagram video, he revealed the "only" reason to don the denim on the slopes.

Yup. You heard that right. They give you huge... er, balance improvements. Right? Right.

Okay, you got me. I knew he was going to say balls.

Silly Instagram reels have been Goepper's M.O. since his post-retirement comeback. Last winter, it seemed that the slopestyle legend—he's won numerous X Games and Olympic medals—was finally calling it quits. He'd announced his retirement, dropped most of his sponsors, and appeared to be looking for his next "thing."

Then, out of the blue, Goepper started sharing goofy, off-brand Instagram reels before announcing that he was retiring from retirement and would return to competition as a halfpipe skier. As I wrote then, it was all a bit surreal. For years, Goepper had maintained a straight-faced, always suitable for T.V. athlete persona. Suddenly, he was letting his guard down and cracking PG-13 jokes (gasp!).

And pivoting from slopestyle to halfpipe is no small feat. Halfpipe is considered one of the most, if not the most, technical freestyle disciplines. Typically, podiums in this discipline require years upon years of specific competitive experience.

But for Goepper, relative success has come quickly, proving that he's still got it after a brief retirement. He took fourth at this past weekend's X Games Superpipe Event. And the best part? He wore those balance-improving jeans.
