How Ski Resort Employees Kill Time In The Summer

What do the employees of Tyrol Basin Ski Area in Mt. Horeb, WI do when the snow melts and the leaves turn green? Not a whole lot, apparently...

Check out the funny video below:

Not a bad gig!

Ski resort employees actually have a lot to do in the summer, but I couldn't help but laugh at this satyrical video. Especially since I considered Tyrol Basin to be my home hill for 4 season when I lived in Madison, WI.

The ski area is small, like pretty much every other hill in Wisconsin, but the community makes Tyrol a diamond in the rough.

You might think skiing a 300-foot icy hill isn't worth the price of admission, and that's understandable. I was also pretty bummed about the lack of vertical and challenging terrain when I moved to Wisconsin.

Slowly but surely, however, I grew to fall in love with the Midwestern charm that Tyrol exudes the minute you enter the parking lot.

Tyrol can't compete with the bigger and snowier mountains out west, but it makes up for it with soul.

I don't live in Wisconsin anymore, and I actually miss the ski outings I had at Tyrol, believe it or not. Until we meet again, my small but mighty friend.

Last note- For all of your disc golfers out there, Tyrol Basin has a fun and challenging course that's open throughout the summer, but be prepared to lose a disc or two. There's probably a half a dozen with my name on them still buried under the leaves.

I'll pay somebody big money if they find the bright green Innova Shryke I lost on Hole 9 two summer ago... Happy hunting.
