In a social media post shared yesterday, @keystoneskipatrolunion—an account representing a yet-to-be-established ski patrol union at Keystone Resort, Colorado—shared information regarding upcoming steps towards official unionization.

The post explained that Keystone's patrol team will vote on unionization in the coming weeks. For the union to become official, half of the patrol team—plus one—must vote yes.

If the patrol votes in favor of the union, another round of voting will occur, this time to determine union representatives, who will negotiate with Vail—Keystone Resort's owner—to decide on a new contract.

These negotiations will result in yet another round of voting on contract ratification. @keystoneskipatrolunion noted that the patrollers will not vote yes on any contract that provides less than they already have.

In a statement shared on Instagram after this video, @keystoneskipatrolunion explained the motivation behind the unionization push.

"With the lack of progressive incentives and proper compensation, we remain at risk of losing season and highly valuable patrollers," a portion of the statement reads. "The retention of invested employees needs to be a priority, and we have failed to see this from the company thus far."

Previously, in 2021, Keystone's patrollers narrowly voted against unionization, with 34 yay and 35 nay votes.
