Following the announcement of his directorial debut during the back-end of last year, Skepta, has announced that his film, Tribal Mark, will release on January 26 at Everyman Cinema.

The production from Skepta, his production company, 1PLUS1, and long-time collaborator, Dwight Okechukwu, follows the poignant journey of a Nigerian immigrant navigating life in a foreign land, with the film also coming as an introduction to the world of an undercover Black Secret Service. The cast features a melange of up-and-coming Black actors, too, with the movie's protagonist, Young Mark, played by Jude Carmichael.

Young Mark grapples with adapting to a new life in London; we meet him as a troubled child -- having moved from his native Nigeria -- and then as a young adult in a place that he struggles to make feel like home. Amidst all the trials and tribulations, viewers can expect to observe how this experience shapes his already complex character, as he attempts to stay connected to his culture, which serves as his guiding force throughout his transformation.

Additionally, Tribal Mark adopts a creative direction that can be attributed to Skepta's main influences; contemporary art, fashion, and music. The 90% minority ethnic cast and production team also serves as a first-of-its-kind in British cinema, bringing attention to important societal issues such as racial prejudice and systemic oppression alongside the increased mental health problems for non-EU migrants.

You can take a closer look at some highlights from Skepta and 1PLUS1's Tribal Mark above and it can be seen at Everyman Cinemas for two weeks from January 26 to February 11. Tickets will also be discounted to £13 GBP to ensure accessibility for all communities to enjoy.
