The drama surrounding the third instalment of the Sex and the City movie franchise continues to cause controversy.

Following a highly-publicized feud earlier this year between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall, it looked as though the much-anticipated Sex and the City 3 was never, ever going to happen. Despite Cattrall joking that her character, Samantha Jones, should just be played by another actress in the sequel, the rest of the cast were seemingly disappointed that the fourth member of their onscreen posse no longer wanted to be involved.

However, in an interview on Watch What Happens Live this week, a fan phoned in with an innovative idea-that Parker and the rest of the cast could reunite for a live table reading of Michael Patrick King's already-written Sex and the City 3 script.

Understandably, Parker was pretty enamored with the idea, especially as she has always wanted to make another instalment of the franchise. SJP replied to the fan, "Oh my god, what a clever idea! Maybe as a benefit. That’s a really good idea… I’d have to speak to Michael Patrick King about that, but that’s a really nice idea. That’s a very interesting, thought-provoking, up all night idea." Watch this space, because it seems as though this could actually happen.

Speaking to The Today Show this week, Parker described the script as an "exquisite, unbearably painful, heartbreaking, joyful story, that felt like the beginning in a lot of ways." Parker even name-dropped Cattrall in the interview saying, "She doesn't want to do it," which probably isn't a good sign for their feud.

Based upon Parker's description, it seems pretty clear that one of the characters dies in the Sex and the City 3 script, which is why the story is so "unbearably painful, heartbreaking"-and it's more than possible that this is why Cattrall doesn't want to do it. Which is fair enough, tbh, because I don't want to see Samantha Jones, or Mr. Big, die onscreen either.
