Sarah Jessica Parker has recalled reporting a "big movie" star to her agent after she was "no longer able to convey how uncomfortable" his inappropriate behavior was making her feel on set.

The 54-year-old Divorce actress revealed how the MeToo movement made her recognize "countless experiences of men behaving poorly, inappropriately" throughout her career while speaking on NPR’s Fresh Air radio program.

Parker explained how she took action against one male co-star "who was behaving, not only inappropriately, but perhaps even I would say, they weren't living up to contractual obligations as well." She didn't disclose the identity of the man, or the name of the project.

"I think no matter how evolved or how modern I thought I was, I didn't feel entirely in a position—no matter what my role was on set—I didn't feel as powerful as the man who was behaving inappropriately," she ruminated.

"Which strikes me as just stunning to say out loud, because there were plenty of occasions where it was happening and I was in a different position and I was as powerful."

The star recounted that her agent had told producers that if his behavior didn't change, she would be out of the city where they were shooting and wouldn't return. Within hours, she disclosed that "everything had changed."

Parker said while the atmosphere on set wasn't exactly "pleasant", she felt safer and was no longer on the receiving end of sexist comments.

"I didn't have to listen to jokes about me or my figure or what people thought they could talk me into doing," she said.

"All these men. All these men. That stopped. The nature of the person who I felt was really the instigator, this was a grown man, a very big movie star and you know he was baked, meaning his personality, it was cooked. He was a formed person and that wasn’t going to change.

"But I felt certainly better and safer, like I could finish what I had agreed to do."

Parker has returned to TV screens with the third season of HBO's Divorce.
