The 'Barbie' actor is reflecting on the past year as he celebrates his 34th birthday.

Simu Liu has opened up about his struggles.

As the Marvel star rang in his 34th birthday, he took to Instagram to reflect on the past year, which he deemed a "wild s--thow."

However, the introspective update wasn't all bad, as he also called the last year one "of great personal growth and healing."

"Work accolades aside I was going through one of the toughest stints of my life this past fall and therapy," he candidly shared on social media, "and a great support system really got me through it. I'm feeling healthy and at peace going into 34."

"This kind of life is maybe the most perilous in this day and age where anyone can write anything about you, true or not, and still have it reach thousands of ears on the internet," the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings actor continued.

He went on to say that he has read things in the tabloids about himself that "have been twisted horribly or are just flat out false."

In August 2022, the actor was under fire for a tweet that many commenters called insensitive in the wake of ‘Batgirl’s’ cancelation. “I'm sorry to inform you guys that Disney has decided to scrap the Shang-Chi Holiday Special due to quality control concerns. I had already filmed the entire thing. I even designed an all-gingerbread Ta Lo. RIP Shang Chi and the Legend of the TEEEN GOLDEN RIIIIINGS,” Liu tweeted at the time.

The now 34-year-old continued his Instagram post by thanking the fans who have stuck, noting, "I'm grateful to everyone who sees me and what I am about, which has always and will forever be an advocate of love, acceptance and equality for all."

He signed off with an optimistic message, adding "Thanks for being with me on the journey. It's going to be a great year!"
