Okay, this is wild: The Simpsons low-key predicted Kamala Harris’s inauguration outfit.

Let’s back up for a second…to January 20, 2021! Inauguration Day! Harris made history when she was sworn is as the first woman, Black, and South Asian American vice president. For the occasion she wore a gorgeous purple ensemble by Christopher John Rogers and her signature pearls. Some folks on Twitter couldn’t help but notice the outfit bore a striking resemblance to one Lisa Simpson wore in a 2000 episode of The Simpsons titled “Bart to the Future.”

And this is where things get really mind-blowing: In the episode Lisa takes office after a horrific one-term presidency by—wait for it—Donald Trump. Yes! You can’t make this stuff up.

Look at the outfit and a quote from the episode, below. Remember, this was from 20 years ago.

“Yeah, everything that ever will be has already been on The Simpsons. But this is a bit on the nose,” one person tweeted. Ya think?!

This isn’t the first time The Simpsons has predicted the future. A 1996 episode eerily foreshadowed the Capitol riot. Also, the show called Tom Hanks inevitably hosting a TV special for the U.S. government. (The actor emceed the Celebrating America broadcast that took the place of an inaugural ball.)

How is one TV show managing to predict literally so many future events? What is going on in their writers’ room? They clearly have all the answers!

I kid. In reality, this is just a series of very bizarre coincidences. Harris’s purple suit, according to style experts, is actually a nod to the suffragette movement and bipartisanship, as purple is a blend of red (Republicans) and blue (Democrats). But here’s the thing: Maybe that was also Lisa Simpson’s thinking when she wore her suit. It’s all connected, people!
