Much ado has been made about the supposed Nostradamus-like prophecies foretold by The Simpsons. But in reality, any television series littered with pop culture references that spans over two decades and nearly 800 episodes would have to hit the nail on the head sometimes. Chalk it up to the infinite monkey theorem.

However, given the animated show's penchant for getting things right, some are hoping that a throwaway joke made at Elon Musk's expense might manifest itself into reality.

In Sunday's new episode, "Thirst Trap: A Corporate Love Story," Elizabeth Banks stars as a college dropout named Persephone who fakes her way into a CEO gig in Silicon Valley, in what was likely a nod at Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. Over the course of the episode, she charms Mr. Burns into funding her dream project and the pair marry.

At one point according to Yahoo!, the evil Springfield Nuclear Power Plant owner gives her a card that's intended to be "a little something special for her birthday." When she asks if it's a Twitter (now called "X," thanks to Musk) gift card, Mr. Burns responds: "No, I bought you Twitter, the whole company! It was a bargain, the previous owner had to sell it after his self-driving Mars rocket crashed into the international space station."

Now, to be fair, Elon Musk crashing one of his SpaceX rockets into the international space station does sound pretty on-brand for the billionaire. And not entirely shockingly, users on his questionable investment agreed.

"The Simpsons may have dropped another prediction, and if it comes true, the world may one day tweet again," posted one user.

Interestingly enough, Musk lent his voice to a season 26 episode of The Simpsons in 2015 called “The Musk Who Fell to Earth," which may or may not have predicted that he would buy the platform in the first place. And given that he posted about it himself last year, Musk seems to agree.

Perhaps there's a little something to the theory after all. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
