Editors' Picks are the Fashionista team's true (#notspon) fashion and beauty obsessions, handpicked by professionals who see it all

As a person of modest stature (5'2"), there are certain garments I've just always assumed weren't going to work for me, at least not without a visit to the tailor. Given that going to the tailor is an errand I realistically only manage to run about once per year, I simply avoid such items. One is jumpsuits — or unitards, or playsuits or onesies; whatever you want to call them, I've always just admired them from afar. Surely the chances of both the top and bottom halves of a garment fitting me were slim to none. Or so I thought.

Over the past few years, I've become infatuated with the more activewear- or athleisure-leaning unitards and the dream they perpetuate of chicly going from pilates to brunch in a single garment. Maybe I'd throw on an oversized button-down and switch out my sneakers for ballet flats in between. After seeing a fellow vertically-challenged person wearing one successfully, I decided to go ahead and give it a try (even though it's been years since I last attended a pilates class).

As it turns out, these things are basically just a stretchy tank top and leggings sewn together. Their malleable nature means pretty much any body type can pull one on. I'm partial to Gil Rodriguez's Via Olympia style because of its simplicity: It's virtually seamless, ultra comfy, has just the right amount of stretch (it's 91% cotton, 9% elastane, to be exact) and feels relatively timeless. The inseam is a tad long, but it's not really noticeable.

Unfortunately, this purchase has only exacerbated my infatuation with onesies, acting as a gateway drug to the category. I have my eye on other colors and shorts versions, but I'll definitely still be getting plenty of wear out of my "first," styling it with sweaters, long coats and boots when the weather gets cooler.
