How to Make a Simple Felt Snowflake Wreath

This DIY holiday wreath will have you dreaming of a white Christmas all winter long, and you can have it hung on your front door in under an hour. We'll show you how to re-create the look with a store-bought foam wreath and a few pieces of white felt. A decorative coat of spray glitter will make the wreath sparkle like it's been covered by a fresh snowfall. It all comes together in just a few minutes, so you'll have more time to wrap your gifts, make more Christmas crafts, and bake sugar cookies for Santa.

Step-by-Step Directions

Follow these simple how-to instructions to make your snowflake wreath. You should be able to complete the project in under an hour.

Step 1: Cut Patterns

Download the free patterns and print them at a large scale. If you're not sure how to do this, you can take them to a copy shop to have them enlarged. It helps to do this after you've chosen your wreath form so you know how big to make the snowflake patterns: Most of the snowflakes should be larger in width than the wreath form. We suggest using a flat form like this Styrofoam Floral Wreath ($5, Michaels) rather than a cylindrical wreath since it'll be easiest to attach the cut snowflakes to a flat surface.

Step 2: Trace and Cut Snowflakes

Once you've enlarged the snowflake patterns to the desired size, cut out the paper snowflakes and use each one to trace the pattern onto sheets of stiff White Crafts Felt ($0.39, Michaels) and cut them out. Trace a matching back onto regular felt (this layer doesn't need to be stiff, although you can use the same felt for both) and glue the pairs together using hot glue. This keeps your snowflakes stiff so they stay in place, rather than flopping around the wreath form.

Step 3: Attach Snowflakes

Once you've glued all the snowflake pairs together, arrange the snowflakes on the wreath and glue them into place. To add more dimension to the wreath, apply more snowflakes with stacks of Foam Mounting Squares ($3, Michaels) to keep them lifted off the rest of the snowflakes. Once you've attached all the snowflakes, mist the wreath with Glitter Spray ($9, Michaels) and let dry. If you can't find spray glitter, use a Clear Spray Glue ($5, Michaels) and clear glitter.
