Installing crown molding is an home project that won't take months to complete and brings an elegant finish to any room. If you're looking to add character into your home with crown molding, this step-by-step guide will take you through everything you need to know.

Supplies:

  • Crown molding

  • Miter saw

  • Finishing gun

  • Finishing nails

  • Angle finder

  • Tape Measure

How to Install Crown Molding:

  1. Take your measurement of the first wall to determine the length of the molding.

  2. Make your first corner cut on that piece of molding by making 45-degree angle cut on the moldings right side.

  3. Make the second corner cut on the same molding.

  4. Carefully load nail gun with nails.

  5. Fit molding into place and nail onto the wall with two nails spaced evenly at each nail stud.

  6. Take measurement of the adjacent wall.

  7. Make first corner cut.

  8. Measure and mark the second corner cut.

  9. Make second corner cut.

  10. Position molding in place and nail onto the wall.

  11. Repeat steps for the rest of the molding.

  12. Caulk your molding at nail holes and where molding meets the wall and ceiling.
