Simone Biles Proved She Was the GOAT After Being the First Woman to Land a Yurchenko Double Pike Vault
Simone Biles is making history just a few months before the Olympics.
: While competing at the 2021 GK U.S. Classic competition, Simone made jaws drop with her new vault: a Yurchenko Double Pike. The move has never been successfully completed by a woman in a competition prior to Simone's history making attempt.

The move got a 6.6 start value for difficulty, making it the highest rated vault for women right now. Moves in gymnastics are given a special value based on how hard the skill is. However, gymnastics fans and Simone made it clear that it should be much higher in comparison to other vaults. According to NBC Sports, Simone and her coaches were hoping for a 6.8 start value.
"There’s no point in putting up a fight because they’re not going to reward it the correct value, but that’s OK," she said. "They’re both too low, and they even know it, but they don’t want the field to be too far apart. They had an open-end Code of Points [instituted in 2006], and now they’re mad that people are too far ahead and excelling."
The start value can still change before the Olympics, so there's a chance that her wish might come true as it's clear she intends to land it again.
The 2021 GK U.S. Classic was Simone's big return to competition since the 2019 World Championships. She won the All-Around title in style thanks to a leotard with a goat on the back showing that she's the GOAT when it comes to gymnastics.
Simone will compete at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships on June 3 to 6 prior to the U.S. Olympic Trials on June 21 to 27. No doubt, she's be on her way to Tokyo for the upcoming Olympics soon enough.
