  • People are self-quarantining to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, which has impacted dating.

  • To help make some love connections, an IRL version of Love Is Blind called Love Is Quarantine is connecting people digitally.

  • You can sign up to become a Love Is Quarantine contestant, and then you may be matched up with a new love interest.

Dating in the age of coronavirus has turned out to be pretty tricky. After all, you’re supposed to keep at least six feet away from people you don’t live with and stay at home as much as possible. That’s not exactly the best recipe for romance.

Well, there’s apparently a new, self-quarantine-friendly "dating show" in the works, and, as you can guess, a lot of people are interested in it. The show is based off of Netflix's hit reality dating show Love Is Blind, which has singles date each other by talking through windowless pods. But this IRL version takes the literal blind date setup one step further by having people call each other on virtual blind dates.

More than 200 people have already auditioned to take part, and if you're interested in making a long-distance (for now) love connection, it's super easy to sign up. Simply click on the show’s Google Sheets document, and enter some info about yourself like your name, age, what gender(s) you’re into, your phone number, and where you’re located.

The mastermind behind this epic social experiment is Thi Lam, a guy who IDs himself on Instagram as CEO of Love Is Quarantine and Garnish Studios. Some contestants are already being featured on the @LoveIsQuarantine Instagram page.

Thi has been keeping people posted on Love Is Quarantine's Instagram Stories. "Tune in, share this account, we’re going to be collecting our dates soon, follow along for updates and confessionals," he says in the post.

Basically, Thi is connecting people with each other’s phone numbers and letting them take it from there. He shared a screenshot on Instagram of one person who said "We’re still texting…we’re really vibing." After each couple goes on their virtual date, the Love Is Quarantine account has said that it "will make a video at the end with confessionals" so participants can share their experience.

So, apparently this is how dating is done RN.
