SWANSEA — Sandcastle enthusiasts, this is your time to shine.

The Town of Swansea is seeking participants for the second annual Sandcastle Festival.

Hosted by the Board of Selectmen, the Sandcastle Festival will be held on Sunday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Swansea Town Beach, 560 Ocean Grove Ave.

This event is weather permitting.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to register.

Teams can register by sending an email to media@swanseama.gov or calling 508-678-2981, Ext. 5. There is a maximum of four members per team.

No experience is necessary to participate in the Sandcastle Festival.

There will be trophies for first-, second-, and third-place winners.

This event is free and open to the public, and everyone is welcome to come see the sandcastles being built.

In a press release about the event, Swansea Town Administrator Aronstein thanked the Swansea Highway Department for preparing the beach for this event, Citizens for Citizens for donating the use of its parking lot, and Mark Johnson for donating his DJ services.

"We are thrilled to once again host Swansea's Annual Sandcastle Festival," Aronstein said in the release. "Last year we had over 500 attendees. The event was a great success and we look forward to welcoming community members back this year."
