Denim purveyor Levi Strauss & Co. announced that its board of directors has appointed David Marberger as a member of the board and to serve on the board’s audit committee. With more than 30 years of finance and leadership experience, Marberger currently serves as the executive vice president and chief financial officer for Conagra Brands.

Adidas

John Miller
John Miller

German sportswear giant Adidas has named John Miller as president of Adidas, North America, the brand announced on LinkedIn. In his new role, Miller will oversee operations in the United States and Canada. He rejoins Adidas North America after working in the U.S. sporting goods industry for nearly three decades, including serving as senior vice president of wholesale for Puma. Miller succeeds Rupert Campbell, who stepped down as president of North America in October.

Urban Outfitters

Shea Jensen will be joining URBN as president of Urban Outfitters, North America, effective Feb. 5. In this role, Jensen will oversee merchandising, marketing, digital and retail operations for the Urban Outfitters brand in North America. She brings more than 30 years of retail experience with a proven track record in operations, e-commerce, business strategy, merchandising and innovation. Jensen previously held leadership roles at Nordstrom and joins Urban Outfitters from Good American, where she served as president.

Global premium lifestyle sports brand Fila announced that Fila USA president Todd Klein will take on the newly created role of global brand president. In addition to his existing responsibilities, Klein will assume responsibility for the overall operations of the Fila brand, including global product and marketing strategies. Klein joined Fila USA as president last January with over 30 years of experience overseeing diverse teams across numerous markets and regions.

Columbia Sportswear

Columbia Sportswear announced that its board of directors appointed Charles Denson to serve as a director and member of its audit committee. Densen is the chairman of the board of directors for Funko, where he has served as a director since its formation in 2017, as well as serving as a director of Fah LLC since 2016. Denson has served as the president and CEO of Anini Vista Advisors, an advisory and consulting firm, since 2014. From 1979 to 2014, Denson held various positions at Nike, where he was appointed to several management roles, including president of the Nike brand, a position he held from 2001 to 2014.

Under Armour

Under Armour has announced two new leadership appointments: Yassine Saidi as chief product officer and Kara Trent as president of the Americas. Saidi will join the company on Jan. 29, and Trent, currently serving as the managing director of the company’s EMEA region, will assume her new role in February. Both will report directly to president and CEO, Stephanie Linnartz.

Lulu’s

California-based fashion brand for women Lulu’s revealed that Laura Deady has been appointed chief merchandising officer, effective Jan. 15. Deady joins Lulus from Urban Outfitters, where she served as the senior managing director of buying and merchandising for apparel, accessories, footwear and vintage.

In addition to Deady’s appointment as CMO, David McCreight, who has served as executive chairman of the company’s board of directors since March 2023, will end his executive chairman role and transition to the role of director at large, effective Mar. 6. Current board director, John Black, will succeed McCreight in the role of chairman of the board. Black has served on the company’s board since October 2017.

Solo Brands

Chubbies owner Solo Brands announced the appointment of Christopher T. Metz as its new president, chief executive officer and director of the board, effective Jan. 15. Metz succeeds John Merris, who will mutually separate from the company as its president, CEO and director, effective as of the same date. Metz has more than 25 years of experience leading consumer and durable goods companies, most recently serving as CEO of Vista Outdoor.

United Sports Brands

Portfolio of sporting goods brands United Sporting Brands has appointed Phil Gyori as chief executive officer. Gyori most recently served as the CEO of Pelican Products and has held past senior leadership roles at brands including Nike and Bushnell. He has over 30 years of executive and management experience and a proven track record of driving rapid business growth.

Rothy’s

Direct-to-consumer footwear brand Rothy’s announced it has appointed current board member Jenny Ming as chief executive officer and Dayna Quanbeck as president as the company’s cofounders—Stephen Hawthornthwaite (CEO) and Roth Martin (president)—transition from their current roles to chair of the board and chief creative and innovation officer, respectively.

Ming is an experienced retail executive who previously served on the 1994 founding team of Old Navy, becoming the retailer’s first president. Quanbeck, who currently serves as chief financial officer and chief operating officer, will continue to oversee the deployment of growth capital and manage Rothy’s finance, logistics, data analytics, retail, international and technology divisions.

Shein

Fast-fashion giant Shein has hired veteran retail lobbyist Kent Knutson as its chief U.S. government affairs officer. Knutson most recently served as the vice president of government relations at Tractor Supply Co. and before that, he led Home Depot’s public policy team for 16 years. The appointment comes as the retailer faces scrutiny from Washington over a myriad of issues, including but not limited to forced labor allegations and skirting Customs enforcement.

Gap

Specialty retailer Gap announced the appointment of Eric Chan as chief business and strategy officer, effective this week, and Amy Thompson as chief people officer, effective Jan. 22. Both leaders will join Gap Inc.’s executive leadership team and report to president and CEO, Richard Dickson. Chan previously served as COO for The Bouqs Company and, prior to that, CFO for Loot Crate, where he helped scale the company from a startup to $165 million in revenue. Thompson most recently served as chief people officer at Mattel, and before that as chief people officer at TOMS and in HR executive roles at Starbucks and Ticketmaster.

Carter’s

Children’s apparel purveyor Carter’s announced that Brian Lynch, president and chief operating officer, has informed the company of his decision to retire, effective Mar. 1. Upon his retirement, Lynch will consult with the company and support the planned transition in leadership through February 2025.

Effective Mar. 1, Kendra Krugman, executive vice president, retail and chief merchandising officer, will be promoted to senior executive vice president, chief creative and growth officer. Krugman will continue to lead the company’s product design, merchandising, and retail teams. Also effective Mar. 1, Richard Westenberger, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will be promoted to senior executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer, with added responsibility for the company’s supply chain operations.

British retailer John Lewis announced two senior appointments. Peter Ruis joins as executive director to lead John Lewis, effective Jan. 15. Ruis, who has more than 30 years of leadership experience at a number of leading retailers and brands, joins from Indigo and has previously served at brands like Anthropologie and Jigsaw. Naomi Simcock, who stepped up as interim executive director for John Lewis, has been appointed to a new role as operations director. Working closely with Ruis, Simcock will take responsibility for John Lewis retail and supply chain.

Chrono24

Online marketplace for new and used luxury watches Chrono24 announced that co-CEOs Tim Stracke and Holger Felgner will step down, with Carsten Keller taking over as CEO. Over the past eight years, Keller has played a key role in developing Zalando’s marketplace model, including founding Connected Retail, which connects brick-and-mortar stores with online sales. Prior to that, Keller spent more than a decade at McKinsey in leadership positions in the fashion and luxury sectors.
