Canadian men’s underwear brand Saxx appointed Tom Berry as CEO. He will succeed Wendy Bennison, who will facilitate the transition before joining the board in April 2024. Most recently, Berry served as president and CEO America’s of the Danish footwear and leather accessories company Ecco. He previously held leadership roles at Levi Strauss & Co, Tecnica, Salomon and The North Face.

G-III Apparel

G-III Apparel appointed Dana Perlman as chief growth and operations officer, effective Jan. 8, 2024. She will draw on her 20-plus-year career in apparel, strategy and finance to drive innovation, optimize operations and identify new opportunities for G-III. As part of the company’s leadership team, she will oversee strategy, finance, communications, information technology and other operating functions. Most recently, Perlman spent over 10 years at PVH Corp. as chief strategy officer.

Lanvin Group

Global luxury fashion house Lanvin Group announced that founding chairman and CEO Joann Cheng informed the board of her plan to step down. The board named Huang Zhen as the new chairman and Eric Chan as CEO, effective Dec. 7.

Zhen is a director of Fosun Group and currently serves as executive director and executive president at Fosun International. Chan currently serves as co-chairman of Greater Yuyuan Commercial Development Group and has over 30 years of experience across omnichannel shopping platforms, luxury commercial real estate projects, offices, and high-end hotels and resorts.

Gildan

Gildan Activewear Inc. president and CEO Glenn J. Chamandy has left his position with the Canadian innerwear company. The firm named Vince Tyra as its new president and CEO, effective Feb. 12, 2024. Craig A. Leavitt, a director since 2018, will serve as interim president and CEO until Tyra assumes his new position.

Chamandy quickly issued a statement clarifying this development.

“Yesterday, I received notice from the Chairman of Gildan Activewear’s Board of Directors that the Company was terminating my employment agreement without cause,” he said. “It is unfortunate that my vision of the path forward has differed from that of other Board members.”

He said the ouster “comes after 40 years of service in the impressively successful company founded by my family.”

Chamandy went on to say that he’s “immensely proud of the robust and highly competitive organization we built over more than four decades of unwavering efforts to be the best in every market where we compete. The value created by our great team is impressive by any standard.

“I hold our dedicated employees in the highest regard and am continually humbled by the steadfast support from our actively engaged shareholders,” he added. “I also wish to express my gratitude to our exceptional customers, who have supported us through thick and thin.”

Careismatic Brands, the medical apparel maker, named Sid Lakhani as its as CEO after he took the chief operating officer role in 2022.

Torrid

Effective Dec. 4, Paula Dempsey, interim chief financial officer for Torrid, will permanently occupy the role. Dempsey has extensive retail experience and has held senior leadership roles in public companies in finance and financial planning and analysis. Prior to joining the plus-size women’s specialty retailer, she was senior vice president of corporate finance at Mattress Firm.

Pangaia

Pangaia CEO Krishna Nikhil reportedly stepped down from his role at the material sciences innovator. Nikhil joined Pangaia as the company’s first CEO in March 2022, coming from Ssense, where he served as chief merchandising officer and chief marketing officer. Pangaia did not respond to Sourcing Journal’s request for comment. Business of Fashion first reported the news.

Macy’s named Tracy Preston as the chief legal officer and corporate secretary of Macy’s Inc., effective Jan. 8, 2024, reporting to Tony Spring, president and CEO-elect. She will be responsible for various legal affairs, litigation and compliance for the department store, including employment, real estate, credit, commercial and regulatory matters, enterprise security and internal audit. She will also act as legal advisor to senior leadership and the board of directors as corporate secretary.

Before joining Macy’s, Preston served as chief compliance officer, chief legal officer and corporate secretary of HanesBrands. She previously held the same titles at Neiman Marcus Group. Earlier in her career, she held several key legal positions at Levi Strauss & Co.

Ravi Doddivaripalli

XY Retail, a provider of omnichannel retail solutions, hired Ravi Doddivaripalli as chief product and engineering officer. He will lead the product and engineering functions, reporting directly to CEO Susan Jeffers. Doddivaripalli joins from Innovaccer, a healthcare platform company, where he served as vice president of platform products.

Eagle Eye

The Untie Nots platform owned by SaaS technology company Eagle Eye has named Jean-Matthieu Schertzer as its chief artificial intelligence (AI) officer. Schertzer will lead Untie Nots’ overall AI strategy alongside the Eagle Eye Group’s leadership team and support the design, development and implementation of AI technologies for global retailers and brands.

Global customer and experience insights platform Crave Retail named Melissa Gonzalez to its advisory board, effective Nov. 9. She has a track record of developing innovative retail concepts with brands and retailers including Sorel, Nordstrom and Victoria’s Secret.

Arrive Recommerce appointed Alec Wilkins as chief technology officer. Reporting to co-CEO Ross Richmond, Wilkins brings his 25-year track record of architecting and scaling teams across multiple functions including e-commerce, fintech and marketplace dynamics to the returns and resale technology provider.

DHL Express appointed a new regional CEO for the Americas. Andrew Williams, the current CEO of DHL Express Canada, will assume the role on Jan. 1, 2024. Current Americas CEO Mike Para is set to start a new role as the CEO of DHL Express Europe. Both will report to John Pearson, global CEO for DHL Express, and will be members of the DHL Express Global management board.

Williams will manage the DHL Express business in more than 55 countries and territories, leading more than 29,000 employees who serve more than 600,000 customers. Parra will oversee the operations of the DHL Express business across more than 60 countries and territories, leading a team of over 46,000 employees dedicated to serving a customer base exceeding 1.3 million.

The Microfibre Consortium elevated research director Dr. Kelly Sheridan to the role of CEO. Founding director Sophie Mather will transition from the board to an advisory role, the multi-stakeholder initiative announced on LinkedIn.

Informa Markets Fashion

Informa Markets Fashion, the trade show organizer, named Purvi Kanji as vice president of Coterie. Kanji will court a mix of brands and retailers, creating a platform that reflects the pulse of the industry today and anticipates future trends. Purvi previously served as the director of brand strategy at Place Showroom, focusing on brand building, and has been a presence at the Coterie show for the past 11 years.

Fair Labor Association 

The Fair Labor Association appointed Jeff Vockrodt to succeed Sharon Waxman as president and CEO, effective Dec. 11. He was appointed by the non-profit worker rights organization’s 19-member board.

Vockrodt has been working to advance workers’ rights and responsible business practices for two decades as an organizer, attorney, policymaker and executive. He has held leadership positions at organizations, including the U.S. Department of Labor and Climate Jobs NY. He has advanced human rights in the workplace through his work with labor unions, the International Labor Organization and the law firm of James & Hoffman.
