Wrangler and Lee owner Kontoor Brands announced that Rustin Welton, executive vice president and chief financial officer, is retiring after four years with the company.

Effective Aug. 31, Joe Alkire will succeed Welton. Alkire will be responsible for enterprise strategy, corporate development, financial planning and analysis, accounting, investor relations, tax, treasury, internal audit and information technology. As a member of the executive leadership team, he will report to CEO Scott Baxter.

VF Corp. named Brent Hyder as chief people officer, effective Sept. 5. He will report to president and CEO Bracken Darrell and serve as a member of the executive leadership team. Hyder joins VF after nearly four years as chief people officer at Salesforce. Before that, he spent almost 30 years in retail, including 15 at Gap Inc., where he last served as chief human resources officer. Hyder was previously the global chief operating officer of the Gap brand and led Gap Japan as its representative director and general manager.

At VF, Hyder will be responsible for all aspects of the human resources function globally and drive strategies to optimize employee and business success. He will lead talent acquisition and management programs focused on developing and retaining VF’s 30,000-plus employees.

Happy Socks has named Alexander Meyer as its new CEO. He will be responsible for driving the brand’s overall strategic vision and growth. Meyer will use his prior experience as chief marketing officer for several consumer brands and fashion retailers to lead Happy Socks through its next growth phase.

Comfort footwear brand Dansko promoted executive vice president of sales and marketing Kitty Bolinger to president, effective Sept. 5. Dansko’s current CEO, Jim Fox, will transition to the newly established role of executive chairman. Bolinger brings more than 36 years of footwear industry experience to the position.

Fashion Institute of Technology

The Fashion Institute of Technology added 24 new faculty members for the fall 2023 term.

Among the 24, Juliana Cho and Ruobing Zhao joined the fashion department, Whitney Crutchfield is new to the textile development and marketing department, Kristy Fall will work in the marketing communications department, Keith Fraley lends fresh expertise to the fashion business management department and Salvatore Giardina adds depth to the production management department. At the school of graduate studies, Zoran Dobric joined the fashion design MFA department, Kaelyn Garcia is new to the fashion and textile studies department, and Ryan Hartley Smith enhances the illustration MFA department.

LIM College has named Scott Carnz as provost. As the institution’s chief academic officer, he will be responsible for establishing and sustaining high academic standards in all teaching, curricular and academic co-curricular activities. He will be the chief advisor on academic matters to the school’s president, Elizabeth Marcuse, and will lead the development of a vision for LIM’s academic future.

Naveena Denim Mills named Andy Shaw as vice president of U.S. sales and marketing, according to a LinkedIn post. Shaw is a 24-year veteran of the denim industry and has worked in research and development, product development, production and sourcing for LS&Co, Old Navy and Stitch Fix.

Recover appointed Matthew Neville as its first global chief commercial officer. Neville is a seasoned apparel industry executive who joins the company from Coats Group, where as managing director for global apparel accounts he led sales of value-enhancing solutions to retailers, brands and vendors.

Comprehensive impact intelligence platform Worldly appointed Scott Stephenson and Colin Browne as new board members. Stephenson, former chair and CEO of Verisk Analytics, is known for his experience in scaling risk management technology. He brings deep technological expertise in the realm of risk management data and analytics. Browne, former chief operating officer at Under Armour, is a 40-year veteran in brand management, supply chain and manufacturing. He also previously served as vice president and managing director of Asia sourcing for VF Corp. and, before that, held various sourcing and manufacturing leadership positions in footwear, apparel and accessories.
