Shuffle Board: Farfetch Names CFO, AEO Ops Chief Departs

Columbia Sportswear Company announced that Tricia L. Shumavon will join the company as Prana brand president, effective in September. She has previous experience in the sportswear industry, most recently with Adidas in Europe as global vice president of women’s, men’s and kid’s sportswear apparel. Shumavon also has experience in merchandising with a track record at brands including Nike, The Gap and L Brands.

Farfetch

Global fashion platform Farfetch announced that Tim Stone has joined the company and will become chief financial officer on Sept. 1. He succeeds Elliot Jordan, who will leave the luxury marketplace on Aug. 31 following a statement that he’d exit the company by the end of the year, as announced in February.

American Eagle Outfitters

American Eagle Outfitters (AEO)’s chief operations officer, Michael Rempell, has decided to leave the company in early fiscal 2024. After over 23 years with the Aerie parent brand, Rempell will pursue personal interests and spend more time with his family. The company has begun the search for a successor, with Rempell staying on to ensure a smooth transition.

During his tenure, Rempell was “instrumental” in taking the company from $1 billion to over $5 billion in revenue, investing in technology and launching its digital channel, according to Jay Schottenstein, AEO’s executive chairman of the board of CEO.

The Children’s Place

Children’s specialty apparel retailer The Children’s Place has made several leadership changes. Maegan Markee has been appointed to the new role of brand president. Sheamus Toal has been promoted to the company’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Mary Beth Sheridan has been hired as chief merchant, effective immediately.

In the new role of brand president, Markee will oversee all customer-facing activities across the company’s family of brands, covering design, sourcing, merchandising, marketing, planning, allocation and the company’s wholesale and international businesses. In the expanded role of COO and CFO, Toal will have oversight for IT, logistics, distribution and store locations, in addition to his current responsibilities for finance, accounting, investor relations, real estate and legal. In the new role of chief merchant, Sheridan will be directly responsible for merchandising, sourcing, planning and allocation, reporting to Markee.

Tractor Supply Company

Rural lifestyle retailer Tractor Supply Company has announced that Meg Ham has been appointed an independent member of its board of directors, effective immediately. She brings experience with a 35-year career in the retail industry to the company and currently serves as the president of Food Lion.

With the addition of Ham, Tractor Supply’s board of directors now consists of nine members. She joins eight current members with expertise and experience across multiple industries.

Lululemon

Lululemon created a mental well-being global advisory board to improve the mental well-being of both its employees and global communities. The 11-person board is chaired by Susan Gelinas, chief people and culture officer, and Nikki Neuburger, chief brand officer. Members will provide a platform to voice opinions and raise awareness to help the company destigmatize the need for well-being assistance and provide tools and resources to its employees in their individual mental health journeys.

Logistics

FedEx

V. James Vena resigned effectively from the FedEx board after he was named CEO and a board member of Union Pacific Corporation, effective Aug. 14, on July 26.

Kimberly A. Jabal also notified FedEx that she wouldn’t stand for reelection at the 2023 annual meeting on Sept. 21.

Port of Oakland

The Port of Oakland named Colleen Liang as acting director of the environmental programs and planning (EP&P) division and Dorin Tiutin was named acting director of the commercial real estate division. Liang has been with the port for 23 years and most recently served as environmental supervisor since 2017.

Tiutin will be responsible for the oversight of approximately 840 acres of Port-owned property, including managing a portfolio of about 100 tenant agreements that range from retail outlets and restaurants to hotels and offices, among others.

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, a German logistics service company, has appointed Jens Drewes, effective Aug. 2024, to succeed Reiner Heiken in the CEO role when the latter retires next year. Drewes will take on the CEO role encompassing Hellmann’s five regions, HR, sales and marketing, corporate development as well as corporate communications.

The supervisory board expanded the management board by appointing a chief digital officer to complement its pre-existing roles. Starting in January, Stefan Borggreve will assume the new board position, overseeing the existing functions, IT and digital, as well as innovation and sustainability.

Technology

Optera

ESG and carbon management software company Optera hired Megan Dunne as vice president of finance and Derek Kuhl as vice president of sales. Dunne offers considerable experience building finance functions and guiding financial and operational strategy for startup and pre-IPO companies. Kuhl joins Optera with nearly 25 years of experience in sales and marketing at companies including Spotify and Google.

Optera promoted Nancy Schoemann to senior vice president, operations; Katie Oakes to vice president, marketing; Alekhya Reddy to vice president, product; and Ilya Sukhanov to vice president, engineering.
