Shuffle Board: AEO Names Chief Supply Chain Officer, Target COO to Exit

American Eagle Outfitters

American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) appointed two executive leaders following the departure of executive vice president, chief operations officer (COO), Michael Rempell.

Sarah Clarke has been named executive vice president, chief supply chain officer, and will be responsible for managing AEO’s global supply chain from sourcing through distribution. She joins AEO from PVH Corp., where she held the role of global chief supply chain officer. Clarke will report to Jay Schottenstien, executive chairman and CEO, effective Oct. 30.

Valerie van Ogtrop will join AEO in the new role of executive vice president, brand operations, effective Oct. 30. She joins from J.Crew, where she most recently was Madewell’s executive vice president, brand operations. She will have full accountability for AEO store operations across North America, brand finance and strategy as well as merchandise planning.

‘47

Privately held premium sports lifestyle brand ’47 hired Steven Monti as vice president of design and development, Ryan Cross as vice president of merchandising, and Brooke Thorton as vice president of marketing.

Monti joins from Converse where he spent 16 years in leadership roles. He will lead ‘47’s creative directors in the overall positioning and aesthetic of each category. Cross joins the company from Goat Group, where he led business development. He will lead and create ‘47’s line architecture, go-to-market, global range and overall merchandising strategy and processes. Thorton will be responsible for growing overall brand awareness.

Hybrid Apparel

Full-service design, development, sourcing, production and apparel distribution company Hybrid Apparel announced the addition of Stephen Teglas as president of Hybrid Digital. Teglas will serve as a key member of the senior executive team and will lead Hybrid Digital’s continued growth. He brings extensive experience in brand management, strategic planning and product development from his tenure at The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros.

Retail

Target

Target announced that John Mulligan, executive vice president and COO, will be retiring, effective February 2024, when he will take on a strategic advisor role and serve as a non-executive officer until February 2025.

Costco

Costco announced that Craig Jelinek will step down as CEO, effective Jan. 1. The board of directors has appointed Ron Vachris, president and COO, as president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, as part of the company’s succession plan. Jelinek will remain with Costco through April 2024, serving in an advisory role and assisting Vachris during the transition. He will also continue to serve on the board of directors and will stand for reelection at the January 2024 annual meeting.

David’s Bridal

David’s Bridal promoted three key leaders after its deal with Cion Investment Corporation. Kelly Cook will now serve as president, brand, technology and finance, retaining ownership of the marketing and technology functions and assuming responsibility for the finance organization. Nancy Viall was promoted to president, merchandising and supply chain, retaining ownership of the merchandising and product functions and assuming responsibility for the supply chain, including the operation of distribution centers. Bob Walk is now COO, maintaining leadership of the field sales team and store operations, continuing and expanding his focus on customer experience with the additional responsibility of overseeing real estate and loss prevention.

Logistics

Global omni-fulfillment platform ShipBob hired Catherine Lacavera as its first chief legal officer. Lacavera joins ShipBob with over 20 years of experience building and leading successful legal and compliance teams, including having spent over 16 years at Google, where she oversaw global litigation, employment and regulatory investigations, and managed more than 300 attorneys and technical advisors. Lacavera will lead and scale the legal function at ShipBob, developing strategies and initiatives that support global growth. She will shape the legal function at ShipBob, scaling and leading the legal capability, providing strategic legal advice and ensuring compliance with the regulatory requirements.

Gordon Brothers

Global advisory firm Gordon Brothers announced that Michael Burden and Al Williams have joined the company as co-heads of North American real estate services. They will lead the growth and expansion of Gordon Brothers’ real estate services platform, providing full life cycle portfolio optimization services to retail, office, commercial and industrial clients. They will focus on helping companies develop and implement operational efficiency plans within their real estate portfolios.
