Shrimp Recalled in Four States Over Possible Health Concerns

The shrimp was distributed to Albertsons, Associated Food Stores, Safeway, Stater Bros Markets, and Walmart.

Kawasho Foods USA Inc. issued a voluntary recall of GEISHA Medium Shrimp in 4-ounce cans on February 26, 2023, due to reported swelling, leaking, or bursting cans. According to the FDA, the product may have been under-processed, “which could lead to the potential for spoilage organisms or pathogens.”

The 4-ounce cans were distributed to Albertsons, Associated Food Stores, Safeway, Stater Bros Markets, and Walmart in California, Utah, Arizona, and Colorado.

Check your pantry for this product and look on the bottom of the can for the following information to see if it’s included in the recall. The UPC of the recalled GEISHA Medium Shrimp 4 oz is 071140003909. The recalled product lot number is LGC12W12E22 and the best-by date is May 12, 2026.

If you purchased an affected can, return it to for a full refund. While no foodborne illnesses have been reported related to this product at this time, it is best not to consume the product even if the can appears normal without any signs of bulging or leakage.
