Attention IKEA shoppers, big change is on the horizon for the furniture retailer, both online and in stores and if you're a seasoned IKEA furniture hacker or loyal buyer, you probably care about this restructuring.

According to Curbed, IKEA's Head of Retail, Tolga Öncü, shared that the number of store visitors hasn't seen much growth, so the company hopes to enhance its e-commerce experience in an attempt to keep up with the behavior of shoppers. Because of this, over the next two years, the Swedish home company plans to get rid of a reported 7,500 office-based jobs and add approximately 11,500 others dedicated to online and delivery.

But that's not all, your in-store experience will also see a huge change over time to help with the visitor numbers. Soon, shoppers will walk into a much smaller (and arguably a lot less overwhelming) selection of products. Instead, you will find a greater number of "styled living rooms and bedrooms," which will potentially make the shopping experience much more visually appealing to home designers.

Though the massive restructuring of IKEA's brick and mortars will have a huge impact on the shopping experience, I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's a low chance their food/cafeterias will be affected in the process-I mean, it's part of the draw, isn't it? Plus, you can't buy the veggie dogs online, no matter how great their new e-comm plan is.
