I cannot tell you precisely how much money I’ve spent on eye creams, but I know it’s a high three-digit number. I have found some gems along the way—but have also found a lot of duds. My biggest regret in this journey is not searching out more affordable options like Freeman’s $4 Eye Depuffing Restorative Moisture Cream. I could have saved myself a lot of money, and according to 400 five-star ratings, found a gem of a product, too.
I wasn’t familiar with K-beauty brand Freeman before, but when shopping on Amazon, that is a good sign; the best retinol body lotions and hair growth oils are from brands I’d previously never heard of. Eye Depuffing Restorative Moisture Cream is a now-$4, 15-mL jar is an overnight eye treatment that supposedly helps with puffiness, moisture, baggy skin, and dark circles via hyaluronic acid, magnesium, glycerin, and ceramides.

After a decade in the beauty industry, reading that ingredient list causes A Beautiful Mind-type montage. I’ll spare you the theatrics and give you the TL;DR. Hyaluronic acid is a liquid sponge that draws in and retains moisture meaning plumper, less wrinkled under-eyes. Magnesium speeds up skin healing and reduces hyperpigmentation, aka dark circles. Lastly, glycerin and ceramides double down on hydration and help skin better absorb other ingredients.
One shopper said they’ve been using Freeman products “since 1993” (that’s 30 years). “I use this 30 minutes before going to bed and when I wake up I am dewy and hydrated,” they wrote.
