It’s a double whammy of retinol and vitamin C.

My winter skin is bumming me out. It’s the embodiment of womp womp — congested, dull, and flaky. The thing is I haven’t changed anything in my skincare routine to account for this, it’s simply that my skin needs an extra boost during these cold dry months. If your skin is similarly revolting against you, let me suggest something: Cycle in a weekly treatment. More specifically, cycle in Dermalogica’s Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask.

If you’ve tried Dermalogica products before, you know you’re in for a product that delivers on its promises. If you haven’t, the brand is Oprah-approved and used by celebrities like Courteney Cox. Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask is a multi-tasking powerhouse that may in fact be your (and my) winter skin savior. A 10-15 minute session with this mask purports to yield results that include increased firmness, brightness, and glow.

There is a CVS receipt-long list of effective and efficient ingredients here, but the highlights are vitamin A (retinol), vitamin C, and linoleic acid. Retinol diminishes wrinkles, clears skin, and evens out both texture and discoloration. Vitamin C is another popular superstar ingredient that protects your skin from elements that cause signs of aging, improves hyperpigmentation, and encourages more supple, firm skin. Linoleic acid is anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, moisture-retaining, and has soothing properties. It’s a nice counterbalance to Multivitamin Power Recovery Mask’s more intense active ingredients.

Science lesson aside, does the mask actually work? The 700-plus five-star reviewers say yes. A shopper in their 60s wrote, “my skin appears smoother and more even-toned, hydrated and refreshed.” They added that when they apply it at night they wake up with a “plump and glowing” complexion in the morning.

The Awaken Peptide Depuffing Eye Gel is another great shopper-loved product from Dermalogica. A trifecta of rosemary leaf extract, caffeine, and peptides reduce inflammation (which can cause a swollen appearance), minimize or perhaps even eradicate puffiness, and firm and hydrate under-eye skin. One reviewer said, “my eyes have been swollen with terrible black bags, and this cream manages to calm it down and make me look presentable.” The shopper went so far as to call it a “holy grail” product.

Skin Resurfacing Lactic Acid Cleanser

All face washes are the same until one isn’t. More than 900 reviewers would probably tell you that’s the case with this Lactic Acid Cleanser. The titular ingredient is a rare sensitive-skin-safe acid that is an exfoliant and a humectant. While it sloughs away dead skin cells, clears skin, and reduces age spots, it also helps your skin retain moisture. A shopper in their 40s called Dermalogica’s cleanser “a game changer” and said they “saw a difference with [their] first wash.” It made their skin “clean, smooth, and bright.”
