Available in a package with 9 pieces, the 8-ounce rice roll has shoppers talking. "I’d definitely buy it again, and often." said a Reddit user who posted about the new grocery in the Trader Joe's Subreddit.

In the main post, which was titled "Kimbap review by a Korean," the user said TJ's kimbap wasn't a 10/10, but it did hit the spot and they liked that they could keep it in the freezer so they could have kimbap on hand all the time. The user mentioned that kimbap at Korean grocery stores near them cost between $7 and 12, making the $3.99 roll a decent deal.

If you happen to be new to the world of Korean cuisine, kimbap is a Korean dish made of rice, vegetables and various fillings rolled up in seaweed, then sliced into bite-sized pieces. It's also known as gimbap ("gim" for seaweed and "bap" for cooked rice). Although kimbap resembles a large sushi roll, the similarities are in visuals only. The rice for kimbap is seasoned differently than sushi rice and the rolls are filled with cooked and pickled ingredients instead of raw fish.

Taking a veggie-forward approach, Trader Joe’s' Kimbap, which is made in Korea, includes a variety of sautéed greens, crunchy root vegetables, crisp pickles and braised tofu. Everything is wrapped up neatly in a layer of rice and seaweed and sliced into bite-sized rounds.

In the comments in the Reddit thread, many commenters had tried and were on board with this new product. Over on Instagram, Traderjoeslist followers also had a lot to say. Some suggested letting the roll defrost in the fridge overnight, then microwaving it for 30 seconds to get the chill off. Others tried warming it up in the air fryer, which is a very 2023 concept.

So, if you've been on the hunt for something new to try at Trader Joe's, this is definitely worth adding to your cart.
