Whitney Houston is absolutely iconic—the legendary voice, the incredible style, the bouncy curls, the warm spirit, and, of course, the trailblazing makeup looks. Who could forget her bold eyeshadow, brown lipstick , and golden glow? Thanks to the singer’s estate and MAC Cosmetics, we can now celebrate our love for Whitney and recreate her looks because the long-awaited MAC Cosmetics x Whitney Houston collection has arrived. The seven-piece makeup line, housed in gleamy gold packaging, includes a selection of lipsticks, glosses, highlighter, eyeshadow, and blushes that range from $20 to $45.
The collection feels personal: Most of the product names include Houston’s childhood nickname, Nippy, and many products replicate the shades she wore. MAC Cosmetics worked with the singer’s estate to ensure it was everything she would’ve wanted. “Whitney was always a champion of women feeling beautiful, whether it was a major event or just for everyday wear,” said Pat Houston, who was Whitney’s sister-in-law and is the executor of the Whitney Houston estate, in a press release. The brand is also honoring the singer by making a $25,000 donation to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
It’s no coincidence that the launch comes just in time for Sony Picture’s musical biopic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, which hits theaters December 23. In the film, Naomi Ackie stars as Whitney Houston, and the collection was used to recreate her looks on-screen.
