International Women’s Day is a global holiday held each year on March 8 that recognizes the accomplishments of women. It dates back as far as the female suffrage movement in the early 1900s. Today, the event is an opportunity for activists and allies to celebrate the strides that have been made and continue to champion gender equality in all facets of modern life.

Here are some of the footwear brands and retailers that are marking the occasion with special campaign and product releases this month. FN will continue updating this list as more launches are announced.

Boss

Boss has teamed up with NFT company Boss Beauties on a new partnership and social impact project with the shared goal of mentoring young women. The collaboration will kick off with the sale of a one of one Boss Beauties NFT that will be auctioned on March 8-12 with proceeds donated to the newly co-created mentorship program, Dream Like a Boss. Current Boss Beauties NFT holders will also receive an additional NFT as a gift. Additionally, Boss will sell a limited-edition T-shirt featuring the NFT on hugoboss.com with a portion of sales donated to the Dream Like a Boss program. To keep the conversations going, on International Women’s Day, Boss Beauties will host an event that features both Rashmi Verma and Boss Beauties founder Lisa Mayer, for a keynote talk on Dreaming Big and Lighting Your Inner Fire.

DKNY

In honor of Women’s History Month, DKNY has launched a new marketplace on its dkny.com e-commerce website. Called “DKNY Market: Powered by Women,” the marketplace offers a curated assortment from various lifestyle collections that features women-owned and founded businesses. Brands featured on DKNY Market are pottery studio Franca, pet accessory brand Found My Animal, stationary boutique The Social Type, and eco-friendly puzzle creators Werkshoppe. DKNY Market goes live on March 8, International Women’s Day, and continues throughout the month of March.

Foot Locker

In celebration of International Women’s Day today, Foot Locker has revealed its month-long Women’s History Month campaign dedicated to empowering women to integrate their personal style in their everyday workplace attire. To challenge outdated norms of workplace attire, Foot Locker has partnered with celebrity stylist Monica Rose to create custom looks for real-life female entrepreneurs and leaders. For this campaign, Foot Locker hosted four working women at its flagship store in New York City to provide her expertise by curating looks for each woman including those who work in an office environment, work from home or freelance, are always on their feet or on the go, and are interviewing for the next step in their careers. In tandem with this campaign launch, Foot Locker is partnering with Bottomless Closet, including a $30,000 donation to be used for year-round meaningful resources and tools all aimed to further set women up for success in all stages of their career.

Gucci

Gucci has released a special capsule collection under its Chime For Change banner. Comprised of a t-shirt and baseball cap, the capsule collection is centered around the theme of “Generation Equality,” reinforcing the urgency for accelerated progress toward a gender-equal future. In connection with the launch of the limited release capsule collection, Gucci said it will directly support diverse feminist organizations, movements and activists led by Indigenous women and girls, young feminists, disabled women, girls, and gender minorities, transgender and gender non-conforming women, and other groups who have been historically marginalized, including though partnerships with: Women Enabled International, Global Fund for Women, Young Feminist Europe, OutRightAction International, Asamblea Nacional Política de Mujeres Indígenas and Enlace Continental de Mujeres Indígenas.

Jennifer Chamandi

London-based designer Jennifer Chamandi, who is marking her 5th year in business, is launching her first handbag collection — ‘Le 8’ — on March 8 to coincide with International Women’s Day. The first debut? A series of clutches. The designer, a supporter of child education, also is partnering the Anna Freud Centre, a leading mental health charity for children and families for the occasion. Proceeds from the sale of each Le 8 bag will go to the organization.

Keds

In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, Keds will be donating $25 per pair of its iconic Champion sneakers sold on Keds.com to Dress for Success. The brand’s Champion sneaker was created in 1916 and bears the distinction of being the first sneaker specifically made for women. Over the years, it’s been reinterpreted through numerous collaborations, including with music icon Taylor Swift, but the classic white style remains a summer wardrobe staple.

Kenneth Cole

Kenneth Cole’s “Equal Pay” Voice Wear T-shirt and its latest The Run sneakers are the perfect wardrobe pieces for IWD because they’re made for “those making their mark and beating their own path,” according to the brand. They’re available now on Kennethcole.com for $34 (tee) and $55 (sneakers). Kenneth Cole donates a portion of proceeds from each sale to The Mental Health Coalition (MHC) in support of its mission to end the debilitating stigma surrounding mental health. MHC recognizes that gender is a major part of life and influences how we move through, how we see and how we are viewed by the world.

Kith

In partnership with the Aaliyah Estate and photographer Robert Whitman, Kith Women has created an apparel collection featuring never-before-seen images of the beloved R&B singer that will release on International Women’s Day 2022. Born out of the desire to utilize an array of photos of the late singer shot by Whitman over the course of her career to honor her legacy, Kith worked with her brother and estate manager, Rashad Haughton, to bring the project to life. Whitman’s photographs of Aaliyah are seen throughout a range of tees and hoodies. The “Rock the Boat” Jane Hoodie is available in black and white colorways, while the Lynn Cropped Crew, Mulberry Tee, Sonoma Long Sleeve Tee, and Classic Tee are also each offered in different custom graphic combinations, executed in the brand’s vintage wash finish. The capsule also includes five unisex vintage-style t-shirts in a range of colors and graphics that pay homage to Aaliyah’s spirit. Kith said that 50% of the collection’s proceeds will be directed to the Detroit School of Arts, with the other half of proceeds benefiting I Support the Girls, a foundation which collects and distributes hygienic products and other essential items to females experiencing homelessness, impoverishment and distress.

Neiman Marcus Group

Neiman Marcus Group is joining forces with Boss Beauties, a women-led global initiative and NFT project, to unveil its new “Role Models” NFT collection. This new assortment featuring 25 one-of-a-kinds NFT’s will be launched March 9-12 on OpenSea and includes an NFT of Neiman Marcus co-founder Carrie Marcus Neiman alongside other female leaders such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Katherine Johnson, and Frida Kahlo. A portion of the profits from the NFT sales will go to providing scholarships and mentoring programs for girls and women. Neiman Marcus will also host a series of women’s leadership panels in all stores that will showcase the importance of women in leadership positions in business, technology, the arts, design, health, wellness, and their communities. The retailer also announced it will be supporting the work of Mindy Scheier founder of Runway of Dreams by sponsoring “A Fashion Revolution,” an adaptive fashion show to support and empower people with disabilities to be held at NeueHouse Hollywood.

PrettyLittleThing

To honor International Women’s Day, PrettyLittleThing is offering a slogan tote with the message #MyDressDoesntMeanYes as a way to combat women’s clothing being the blame for them suffering abuse and assault. The initiative also includes a certain selection of dresses alongside the bag. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the movement will go to global charities that provide infrastructure support to victims of rape and sexual abuse. The charities encompass The Survivors Trust, Its On Us, End Rape On Campus and En Avant Toutes. PrettyLittleThing was founded in 2012 and is a UK-based fashion retailer that specializes in selling trendy clothing for an affordable price. Celebs that have worn the brand include Adele, Billie Eilish, Lily Collins, kylie Jenner, Gigi Hadid and many more.

Puma

Puma and apparel company Modibodi are launching a range of leak-free period underwear and activewear, to help women and girls stay comfortable and active during their period. “No woman should have to sit on the sidelines of life because they have their period or bladder leaks,” said Kristy Chong, CEO and founder of Modibodi in statement. Erin Longin, global director of run/trail at Puma, noted the partnership also helps make an environmental impact. “The single-use plastic from disposable products can continue to pollute the environment for hundreds of years,” she said. The first Puma x Modibodi collection will launch in May 2022. As part of the launch, the two companies will work with Puma charity partner Women Win, to donate a pack of five briefs to 500 girls and women in need.

Saks

Saks is celebrating Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day with a new campaign across Saks.com and social channels, in-person and digital events, and themed windows at the New York flagship store. Saks is also awarding three women with its second annual Visionary Voice Award: Amanda Nguyen, one of the Time Women of the Year, an activist fighting for civil rights, and the founder of charitable organization Rise; Mira Mariah, a queer artist celebrating freedom of expression; and Isis King, a trans model and actress expanding awareness of representation. The Visionary Voice Award honors women making a difference in their communities and paving a better future for generations ahead. Each honoree are receiving $10,000 for a charity of their choice and will be profiled in The Edit, the Saks editorial hub. Also featured in The Edit are notable designers such as Stella McCartney and Meryll Rogge who are celebrated for their new collections and share how they uplift customers every day through their work.

Sante + Wade

Footwear brand Sante + Wade announced that it will be donating 25 percent of all sale proceeds from their hero style, the Coco boot, to Solace Women’s Aid. The Aid serves a charity for violence against women and girls in London. The Coco boot is available in sizes 38 through 46 in either standard or wide fit, with availability on Sante + Wade’s website. Solace Women’s Aid support survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, working with over 27,000 people each year, with 40 years of experience working with survivors of all forms of violence and abuse. Their services include advice and support, accommodation, therapeutic services, rape crisis, multiple disadvantage and prevention works with young people.

Ugg

Ugg is celebrating IWD with a new campaign and donation to Planned Parenthood. Building off its #PoweredByHer series, this new campaign highlights actress and writer Tommy Dorfman and four other voices who inspire her, including Indigenous TwoSpirit activist Sherenté Mishitashin Harris, “Dash & Lily” star Midori Francis, transgender activist Corey Rae and writer Raquel Willis. In the campaign, all five women are seen wearing the brand’s Fluff Yeah style in “Purple Sky.” In tandem with the campaign, Ugg will donate $25 per pair of Fluff Yeah slides in Purple Sky sold on Ugg.com and in Ugg retail stores to Planned Parenthood Southeast from now through March 14, 2022.

Vans

Ahead of IWD, Vans released the “Divine Energy Collection.” It includes new iterations of the classic Old Skool, Slip-On, Sk8-Hi and La Costa Slide-On silhouettes for adults and kids. According to the brand, the styles feature neutral hues coupled with patchwork details to celebrate multiple communities combining as one, while representing the inclusion of those who identify as women. The capsule also includes special hoodie, sweatpants and a long-sleeve T-shirt. Between now and Aug. 1, 2022, Vans will donate 2.5% of every sale of this collection on Vans.com to Oasis for Girls and other organizations that empower women.

Zadig & Voltaire

For the entire month of March, Parisian fashion brand Zadig & Voltaire will be supporting Girls Rock SB by contributing 10% of proceeds for every full-price purchase made from its boutiques and online store. Girls Rock SB seeks to amplify marginalized voices through the arts and provide scholarships and mentorship to low-income youth, youth of color and refugee youth. To promote its campaign, Zadig & Voltaire tapped musicians and Girls Rock SB partners Zella Day, Ezinma, Louise Post of Veruca Salt, and Nicole Fiorentino of The Smashing Pumpkins to model its empowering Bella T-shirt, which retails for $85.
