Shooter at YouTube Headquarters in San Bruno, California Injures 4

The shooter reportedly injured four people before killing herself.

American media was consumed by yet another gun-violence incident on Tuesday afternoon: A woman opened fire at the YouTube headquarters in San Bruno, California today just south of San Francisco, two weeks after the March for Our Lives protest demanding Congress act on gun reform took place nationwide. The shooter reportedly injured four people before killing herself. A mass evacuation occurred at the tech company’s massive compound, in which hundreds of its 1,100 employees flooded the area.

The injured were received at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, including one 36-year-old man in critical condition, one 32-year-old woman in serious condition, and one 27-year-old woman in fair condition. Some of the violence allegedly occurred, some reports say, outside on a patio, though it is still unclear what motivated the shooter. A few employees inside the building began tweeting about the incident soon after it occurred and during the aftermath:

In what has become somewhat of a form response for the 45th president, Donald Trump was briefed about the shooting and released a statement on Twitter: “Was just briefed on the shooting at YouTube’s HQ in San Bruno, California. Our thoughts and prayers are with everybody involved. Thank you to our phenomenal Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders that are currently on the scene.”

YouTube, which is owned by Google, recently entered the gun control debate. In March, the company announced it would ban videos that promote or link to websites selling firearms and accessories, and videos with instructions on how to assemble firearms, prompting backlash from the NRA.
