These Shoes Helped Me Level Up My Home Workouts

Reebok’s Nano has long been revered by CrossFit fanatics and casual sweat-seekers alike for its balance between function and fashion. Its tenth iteration—dubbed the Nano X—launched to strong reviews earlier this year and also received a special edition collaboration with four-time CrossFit Games champion and “Fittest Man in History" Rich Froning.

Now, the Nano X is getting the WIT (Whatever It Takes) Fitness treatment, teaming up with the global training brand and retailer for an attractive spin on the Nano that preserves all the best features from the OG shoe and adds a few fun details that make it even better.

I spent a week putting the Nano X to the test through its paces with a range of at-home workouts, including strength classes on the Peloton Digital app as well as a few circuits from Men’s Health fitness legend, Eb Samuel (if Eb sees this mention, he’ll probably use it as an excuse to drag me on my lack of proper form). While I’m far from a CrossFit athlete, I found that these cross-training shoes encouraged me to switch up my training routine, getting off the stationary bike and away from my yoga mat to jump, lift, and push myself outside of my fitness comfort zone.

One feature I appreciated from the get-go was an upgraded “flexware” upper. Like many people, my feet sweat when I exercise and that can sometimes distract me from focusing on trying to crush a PR (or simply get to the end of a workout without laying in the ground in a fit of total exhaustion). But I was impressed by the breathability of these Reebok Nano X shoes. This was an added value during workouts, but also prevented the stinky-shoe aftermath that many home workout warriors have had to contend with the past few months.

This Nano X shoe also provided added stability and comfort during my workouts, thanks to a minimal drop outsole and high-density foam in the collar. With other workout shoes, I’ve experienced blisters and soreness during the breaking-in period. But thanks to the Nano X WIT’s construction, I found the Nano X to be exceptional as ready-to-wear cross-trainers that won’t punish your feet after your first few workouts.

But beyond the technical details, I was drawn to the aesthetics of the Nano X WIT. The color palette was supposedly inspired by London’s Shoreditch neighborhood, and the pink really pops without being overpowering or too bold, managing to hit the sweet spot between low-key cool and personality. The benefits of feel-good fashion stretch into fitness—when you feel like you look good wearing something, you’re going to be more psyched to go all-out and get in a really great workout. The Reebok Nano X WIT made me want to work out. If that’s not a reason to pick up a pair, I’m not sure what is.
