Yellowstone fans, we need a minute. After months of waiting, Paramount Network dropped the official season 5 trailer, and it is setting up viewers for the most intense season yet.

Everyone involved in the show has been tight-lipped (as usual) about what's to come, so this new footage is extra shocking. It jumps us right into the action and reveals a major plot line of the new season. Season 4 did not end with the same explosive cliffhanger finale as season 3, which left fans wondering if any of the major characters survived. Still, there were questions to be answered, and one of the big ones was revealed in the trailer. [Spoiler alert: If you'd rather go in to the new season without any information, turn back now!]

As soon as you press play on the video, you know one thing: John Dutton (Kevin Costner) is governor of Montana. He's shown being sworn in on the steps of the capitol building. First order of business? Fire everyone and hire his daughter, Beth (Kelly Reilly) as his chief of staff. Clips show Jamie warning his father that signing an order is an "act of war;" Beth goes toe-to-toe with Caroline Warner (Jackie Weaver) and hits someone with a bottle in a bar room brawl; Monica (Kelsey Asbille) warns her husband Kayce (Luke Grimes), "When I say we give everything to this land, I do mean everything;" and there's plenty of action in the bunk house. The powerful tagline follows: "Power has a price."

Yellowstone shared the trailer on Instagram, and Kevin Costner (or shall we call him Governor Dutton?) commented with, "I'm ready." Finn Little, who stars as Carter, replied, "I'm not sure I am."

Fans flooded the comments with excited messages:

  • "No text - No calls allowed. CAN’T WAIT 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥"

  • "OMG I can’t wait I need wine and my cowboy hat ….s--- is going down 🤠🙌"

  • "the excitement 🙌🙌"

  • "Ohhh this is gonna be goooooddd ahh I can't wait"

  • "Goosebumps!!!"

This is a lot to think about as we await the two-hour-long November 13 premiere. Until then, we'll be scouring this trailer for clues and rewatching the first four seasons on Peacock. Paramount Network also announced a brand-new Yellowstone newsletter with exclusive photos, videos, news, episode recaps, giveaways, and more. Sign up at the show's Twitter account.
