The SMT TTRPG will be available in three variants and a digital PDF version:

  • SMT The Roleplaying Game: Tokyo Conception Death Variant ($50)

  • SMT The Roleplaying Game: Tokyo Conception Nocturne Variant ($50)

  • SMT The Roleplaying Game: Tokyo Conception Nihilo Variant ($50)

  • SMT The Roleplaying Game: Tokyo Conception PDF ($30)

Besides the variants, you can buy special LionWing Editions of each. That special edition will only be available through the LionWing store. If you're just interested in the PDF version of the game, you can get that too for a cheaper price. A bundle that includes both will cost $60, and all editions include the incredibly well-detailed 100-page rulebook. All editions ordered from the LionWing shop will also include a free PDF of the White Vortex mini-campaign.

The TTRPG is made for 3-5 players with one Game Master and faithfully recreates the gameplay mechanics of the SMT video games. As Persona fans will know, the SMT series that gave birth to it includes many familiar elements, many of which are available in the tabletop version. This includes spells like Agi and Megido. The TTRPG version also adds new mechanics such as the Affinity system, status ailments, critical hits, fumbles, exploding dice, and more. LionWing promises that you don't need any prior knowledge of the SMT series to enjoy the TTRPG version.

The nearly 20-year-old TTRPG was created by Yusuke Tokitam, who is known for many board games like the Mega Man Star Force series and has worked on many video game franchises.

"We feel privileged to collaborate with ATLUS on such a prestigious franchise," said Bradly Halestorm, CEO and President of LionWing in a press release. "Tokyo Conception was initially released in Japan in 2004 and received positive reviews and saw strong sales. However, it remained inaccessible to Western audiences for almost two decades. This has been a 20-year journey for the game, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to share it with the rest of the world."

SMT The Role-Playing Game: Tokyo Conception is the fourth edition of the game which adapts the story and setting of SMT 3: Nocturne.
