Shia LaBeouf plays his dad in ‘Honey Boy,’ Felix the Cat turns 100 and more of this week’s best in pop culture

In “Honey Boy,” written by and starring Shia LaBeouf, we get a glimpse of LaBeouf’s complex relationship with his father. LaBeouf plays a version of his own father in the movie. The screenplay, which he wrote in rehab, follows his journey to stardom. “Honey Boy” was LaBeouf’s nickname as a child. FKA twigs makes her movie debut in “Honey Boy.” She’s also dropping her second studio album this week. The album, titled Magdalen, includes nine songs and is named after the biblical character Mary Magdalene. Felix the Cat, the first animated movie star, turns 100 in human years! The cartoon character made its debut in the 1919 Paramount film “Feline Follies.” Since then, Felix the Cat has become a pop culture icon.
