Shia LaBeouf Continues His Winning Streak of Statement Shoes

This year, Shia LaBeouf has been quietly proving himself as a breakout red carpet style star. In a sea of daring celebrities redefining and twisting menswear codes, including Ezra Miller, Lil Nas X, and more, the actor has levelled up his fashion sense in a stealthier way instead. Working with sister stylists Wendi and Nicole Ferreira to upgrade his look with modern suiting and statement accessories, LaBeouf’s recent heeled Gucci loafers served as a prime example of his confident new look.

Last night, the actor continued this winning streak, attending the premiere of his new film Honey Boy in Hollywood, California wearing full look Balenciaga—and his stellar shoe game was out in full force again, too. LaBeouf wore a bright blue suit with a slightly oversized fit, pairing it with a tight floral-printed tee underneath (a combination he’s pulled off on the red carpet before). Then, he added a tricky ’90s-inspired shoe: black square toe loafers. Their chunky shape is the opposite of the streamlined, chisel-toe oxfords Hollywood men usually gravitate towards, but the shoe departure added a roguish twist to the outfit.

His statement footwear aside—and not to mention that scraggly beard—the actor did adhere to one strict menswear rule, though: matching his belt to the shoes. So, call this winning look a case of him bending the rules—not breaking them entirely.
