Shi.rt RTW Fall 2021

Almost two years since Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi made a comeback on the fashion scene with their Shi.rt project, the design duo developed a lineup of desirable pieces elevated via optical and graphic motifs nodding to 1970s art and fashion. While silhouettes were sleek and uncomplicated, think full skirts, tunic dresses and exquisitely crafted overcoats. The exuberance of the patterns — checks, swirls and blocks of color — added more character to the lineup. Mindful of sustainability, a subject the designers have addressed since establishing the brand, they used vegan leather for bias-cut frocks and eco-friendly vinyl for belted miniskirts, the most daring pieces on show.

Takeaway: Aquilano and Rimondi were able to provide women with flattering and unfussy clothing, here injected with a certain bourgeois flavor.
