Sherri Hill NYFW Show Featured Corrine Foxx and Nala Wayans

They're taking the fashion industry by storm.

Prom night is arguably one of the most important moments of a student's high school career. It's a time to feel beautiful, make lasting memories with your friends, and celebrate the closing one chapter, while making a transition to the next. Finding the right look is critical. When my prom rolled around, I tried not to put too much pressure on myself to find the the perfect dress. As much as I tried to shy away from the status quo, I found myself trying on hundreds of dresses and going to a ton of stores with no luck. My mom and prom date waited outside of my dressing room tirelessly hoping that I'd settle on a look I loved. After many failed attempts, I finally came across a teal one-strapped chiffon gown with silver detailing. It was perfect. It was the one. It was Sherri Hill.

I was honored to attend Sherri Hill's Spring 2018 collection. Everything came full circle as I watched models prance down the runway in their formal occasion dresses, with the same twinkle in their eyes as I had on my prom night. Two of the runway models were none other than Corinne Foxx and Nala Wayans, daughters of Jamie Foxx and Keenan Wayans respectively, who were proudly seated in the front row.

As Corrine gracefully walked down the runway, her father took out his phone with a grin on his face to catch his daughter in action. Corrine and Nala were both first-time Sherri Hill runway models. "I was so nervous the entire time but it was amazing. Sherri was such a sweetheart," Nala told Teen Vogue. "She came up to me and said 'you did so good.' I love her. I feel just...amazing." Nala recently signed with DT models, and is eager to launch a career in fashion. Although this week marked her first appearance in a Sherri Hill show, Corrine is no stranger to the runway. She's walked in multiple shows in the past, including Dolce & Gabbana and Yeezy. "I felt really comfortable, it was super fun. Everyone was so nice and I didn't have any nerves," Corrine said."I really loved the large red gown that I wore because I've always wanted to be a Disney princess and it was my Disney princess moment."

Designer Sherri Hill staged her inaugural NYFW runway show in 2011, giving Kendall Jenner her first chance to rip the runway. Sherri started gaining recognition when various Miss USA, Miss Universe and Miss America contestants won titles in her gowns, according to a press release. This week, over 400 industry insiders traveled to Gotham Hall to witness her latest runway show. The Spring 2018 collection was defined by intricate beadwork, luxe fabrics and figure-flattering silhouettes, rendered in a soft color palette of whites, pinks, and pastels. Large floral patterns was also prevalent. "We try to do a variety, but this season we found that the girls were in a mood for a little bit fun with sparkles so we did a lot of that," she said. As for next season's inspiration, you'll have to wait and see.
