Authorities are continuing to search for actress Naya Rivera after she was reported missing following a boat ride on Lake Piru with her son, Josey, on Wednesday, July 8. Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Captain Eric Buschow told reporters on Thursday that “there’s no evidence of foul play at this point, this may well be a case of drowning,” while Deputy Chris Dyer said, “There are no signs of foul play, there are no signs of anything wrong besides a tragic accident.”

Authorities announced Thursday that the search for Naya had been shifted from a rescue mission to a recovery mission, and the actress is tragically presumed dead. “We have switched to a search and recovery mode, but this does not change the efforts,” Dyer said. “It does not change the gusto, and we will push forward with the search operation. The goal is to bring Ms. Rivera home to her family.”

As of yesterday, more than 80 people were involved in the search for Naya, using helicopters, boats, ATV vehicles, and ground personnel in an attempt to locate her. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has also released security footage of Naya and her son renting their boat.

Please keep Naya and her family in your thoughts.
