Shelter's 'Holding Out For a Hero' Adoption Event Saves Dogs in the Cutest Way

Dogs that are older, require a no-kid household, don't get along with cats or other dogs, or need special attention are often overlooked at shelters. However, these dogs can usually end up being the absolute best companions with the right owner willing to give them the care and environment they need.

That's why we absolutely love the Holding Out For a Hero adoption event at the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, Mass.  I mean, just look at these pictures!

According to the shelter's website, Dogs who will be eligible for the adopt-a-thon are those for whom we have struggled to find the right home. Often these are animals whose previous home environment did not match the needs of the individual, underlining why the right home and the right hero adopter is so critical. Our shier pets will be looking for a quiet, steady super hero while our feisty or energetic pets will be looking for the super hero who can keep them entertained and active. And our senior animals or those with medical needs will be looking for a special super hero willing to love them in their retirement years or take on their extra care.

@Olivia comments, "I wish more dogs had cozy homes." @Anita adds, "Precious doggies! Hope they all get perfect forever homes soon!"

If you live in the area and you would like more information about how you can be a super hero, please visit their website here. The pay-what-you-can event takes place August 7-13.

For those of you not in Salem, you can also be a super hero by volunteering, fostering or adopting at your own local shelter.
