The Lions Club invested $10,000 to build the shelter after a fallen tree destroyed its predecessor a few years ago.

Lions Club President Gerald Muncie was at the shelter Friday and presented a ceremonial check to park manager Beth Carter and Bristol Parks & Rec. Director Mike Mains.

As of Friday, the shelter is open for public use. It bears the club’s name to bring awareness to the Lions Club’s contribution to the community.

The shelter has a metal roof and features metal picnic tables, outlets, lights, a grill and a nearby water fountain. It can accommodate about 25 people, the release states.
