Shelter Dog Who Hasn't Had An Application in Years Sadly Embraces Staff Member

For Bojangles the shelter dog, life is just just an endless cycle of spending time inside a shelter kennel. Day in and day out, he watches other dogs get adopted and go home. But for Bojangles, home is sort of at the shelter.

He’s been there for years now, and hasn’t had an application put in about him in a very long time, at least years, too. He looks so sad, and in a recent video posted on TikTok, he seemingly didn’t want to let go when a staff member gave him a hug. He’s so lonely and just needs the perfect forever home to come along.

According to the comments section on the TikTok, the adoption fee for Bojangles has been waived to incentivize people to adopt him. He’s such a precious boy, and we can’t believe he hasn’t found a home yet.

Perfect Paws Animal Rescue in Illinois has Bojangles. The staff there has seen him living there for several years, and all probably wish as much as we do that he will find a forever family. He would be a great member of the family for years to come.

The Benefits of Adopting a Dog

Around 2.7 million cats and dogs are euthanized each year in the United States. That’s because there are more pets than there are homes. With millions of animals looking for a home in shelters, it saves lives to adopt a pet.

By adopting a dog, you’re helping to combat pet overpopulation. Almost every dog leaving a shelter is spayed or neutered, so you will not have any puppy surprises.

At shelters, like this one in Illinois, there are many mixed breed dogs. These dogs tend to be very healthy, and can even be healthier than purebred pets. This one will save you money in vet bills in the long run.

Research shows that consistent interactions with your pet will reduce your blood pressure and provide emotional support to you. Having a pet is like having another member in your family to care about and get love from.

Helping Your New Dog Decompress

Adopting a new dog can be very exciting for all parties involved. The dog is surely going to need time to decompress after being at the shelter. Give them an area of the house to call their den. It can be a crate or it can even be an extra room in the house. Give them blankets and a bed and plenty of treats and let them just rest.

After a little while, the pup will start getting curious and come out of his den. They will begin socializing, and exploring around the house.
