A Shelby restaurant is undergoing a transformation and will be reopening this weekend under a new name and menu.

Coach’s Neighborhood Grill, which opened in late 2022, is in the process of rebranding as Dodge City Steakhouse.

The restaurant is located in the former Sagebrush location at 1237 E. Dixon Blvd. Kelly Wollinger, with Hodge Restaurant Group, previously told The Star in 2022 the space would be the home of Coach's Neighborhood Grill. The building underwent renovations both inside and out before opening at the end of the year.

Tracy Reece, district manager, said Hodges Restaurant Group owns both Coach’s and Dodge City, and they decided to rebrand the Shelby location as a steakhouse.

She said the city needed a steakhouse, and they would be filling that void.

Reece said they were in the process of hiring employees but would be reopening as soon as they had staff.

Seth Clark, a restaurant employee, said in a Facebook post they would be updating the menu, brand, building and staff, and they hoped to welcome diners this weekend.

“At Dodge City Steakhouse of Shelby, customers can look forward to a menu that contains old steakhouse classics combined with new favorites for Shelby,” he said. “They will also find a renewed sense of commitment to great food and service at Dodge City."

He said in regards to the past weekly specials, Shelby would be happy to find that the restaurant would still be doing $5 cheeseburger baskets on Monday.

Clark said Dodge City would also be offering an expanded wine menu.
