Want a subtle smokey eye that you can rock from day to night? Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell just proved it’s totally possible to work an AM bronze with the sultry makeup she wore for LIVE with Kelly and Michael on Monday morning.

In fact, the pre-summer bronze veil was so beautiful, we had to ask her makeup artist how pulled it off. “Whenever I do a look, I always try to use similar shades on the lips, cheek and crease of the eye for a sort of monochromatic effect,” celebrity makeup guru Patrick Ta tells Yahoo Beauty.

Ta started with ultra-creamy Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation SPF 15 ($80) to create a flawless complexion, dabbing a little bit of NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in “Custard” ($29) under eyes to hide dark circles and illuminate. He then swept on a bit of NARS Blush in “Luster” ($30) for bronzey-apricot pop on Mitchell’s cheekbones.

Next, Ta turned his attention to the eyes, opting for NARS Shimmer Eyeshadow in “Galapagos,” ($25) up to the crease. To “bring some light to the eye,” he then dotted on a little Dose of Colors Loose Pigment and Primer in “Shell” ($25) in the center of the lid. To finish off the look, Ta mixed Charlotte Tilbury ‘Lip Cheat’ Lip Liner in “Pink Venus” ($22) with Kylie Lip Kit Gloss in “Literally” ($15) – which you can also dupe with NARS Velvet Lip Gloss Pencil in “Buenos Aires” ($26). Voila!

While Ta says you can definitely try out other monochromatic makeup palettes — think trendy pastel pink, or summertime coral and peach — bronze neutrals are his go-to. “It really looks good on all skin tones,” he says. “And you can just wear more or less, deeper or lighter colors depending on where you’re going and what you’re doing. It’s a great everyday look.”
