Shay Mitchell Says "Pretty Little Liars" Fans Will Love Her New TV Show

If you're still experiencing Pretty Little Liars withdrawal, Shay Mitchell knows how you feel. But she has good news for you: her new show, You, will fill the Rosewood-shaped hole in your heart.

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress explained that the Lifetime project is "juicy," and adds that "It still has all those elements that PLL had with it being sort of a mystery, there’s a romance part to it and it’s just exciting. It’s definitely going to have those elements."

But think of You as Rosewood, all grown up — and taking place in New York City. "I think it’s a little bit more mature," she explained of the project, which will also costar Gossip Girl himself, Penn Badgley. "It deals with a lot of crazy things like PLL did, but it’s a different storyline. If you loved PLL, you’re gonna absolutely love You. And if you never saw PLL, you’re still going to love You."

In the series, she'll play a girl named Peach, whom Shay describes as a "complete 180 from what Emily [Fields, her character on Pretty Little Liars] was. She is known to be not the nicest, so she is quote un-quote the 'mean girl.'" But she stresses that her version of a queen bee still has affection for the main character, named Beck. "She has, um, a very interesting relationship with her," Shay hints. “I actually catch myself sometimes ‘cause I feel bad, you know? I'll say my line that’s written for me and I’m just like, ‘Sorry! I don’t mean to sound like that.' But it’s fun, it’s so fun."

Shay recently told Teen Vogue that Emily will "always hold a place in my heart. But it's also fun to be able to play somebody close to my age." And now that she's teaming up with one of the original stars of Gossip Girl for another soapy New York drama? Well, you know we already love it. XOXO.
