Shay Mitchell Officially Revealed Her Baby’s Name

Shay Mitchell just unveiled one major secret — the name of her newborn daughter. Just weeks after sharing the first photo of her daughter, the former Pretty Little Liars star revealed what she and Matte Babel chose for the name of their baby, and PLL fans, hold onto your dolls for this one.

On Wednesday, Shay shared an Instagram of her holding her daughter, and she revealed that she'd chosen the name Atlas. She went on to explain what inspired the name, writing, "Atlas Noa, In my 32 years of life I thought I had seen a lot of places, experienced a lot of things, met a lot of people and felt love...then came you." She revealed that she's continually "in awe" that she now has a daughter, and shared how excited she is to watch Atlas grow, writing, "Whatever you choose to do in this world, whoever you choose to love, wherever you choose to go, I will always be your biggest fan. I am already so proud to be your Mama."

The actor also elaborated on the name's origin in a new interview with Vogue. “A close friend of ours was listing off names for her daughter that she had had a year and a half ago. Then she said 'Atlas' and I looked at Matte, and he looked at me, and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh,’” she told Vogue. “It’s just the perfect name; from that day, we knew it was going to be Atlas. People would ask us, ‘Do you have a name?’ But we were keeping it hidden. I’m sorry to everybody that I lied to!”

Shay is the second of the Liars to choose an "A" name for her baby. Previously, Troian Bellisario shared what she had named her baby daughter, writing in an Instagram story about her experience feeding one-year-old Aurora. Whether she actually intended to reveal the name via Instagram story or not, the post marked the first time that Troian had publicly shared what she named her child.

Now fans are left wondering whether these "A" names are intentional. As PLL viewers know, "A" was quite the character throughout the Freeform series, and maybe all that time in Rosewood played a direct inspo on some naming choices. In fact, one fan tweeted their theory regarding the future of Atlas, writing, "Shay Mitchell named her daughter Atlas and I can’t help but think that her daughter gunna start leaving notes around the crib with -A written at the end."
