Shawn Mendes Strips Down and Bravely Takes a Plunge Into Frigid Water

The singer spent a frigid Christmas making things even worse for himself.

Shawn Mendes chose a rather interesting way to spend an already frigid Christmas Day–his own rendition of a polar plunge.

The singer ventured down a snowy riverbank on Christmas, where somebody captured him disrobing in the freezing conditions. 

"He's getting undressed!" a woman's voice says from behind the camera as it pans to another man standing on the edge of the partially iced-over river. "What are you doing?"

"I'm ready!" Mendes says, stepping down the slope in his boxers before seemingly contemplating his life choices. With a deep breath, he takes off his boots, and with a quick shift of the clip he's wearing only his boxers as he submerges himself face down in the icy water. 

After a moment he throws his head back, slinging water across his back as he shrieks, "Woo! It's cold!" before going down for another hit. 

When he finally trudged back to the river bank, he admitted, "I can't feel a thing." The video ended with a thumbs up as Mendes redressed. 

"MERRY CHRISTMAS ❄️🤪❤️," the "Stitches" singer captioned the post, which was shared on Dec. 25.  

"Can take the boy outta Canada but can’t take the Canada outta the boy 🫡," commented Nash Grier.

"was it cold tho," Sabrina Carpenter wanted to know. 

"BLUE BALLS. LITERALLY," Ryan Tedder wrote. 

"Brave 😭 Happy Holidays Shawn!" the account for Tommy Hilfiger said. 

"Sometimes I forget that just because your last name is Mendes that you are indeed a white boy," one fan joked about the questionable activity. 

It's certainly not one we'd choose to partake in, but it was sure fun to watch!
