The thing I love most about celebrity couples is the gossip they provide. The best thing they can do is date, break up, swirl some rumors around with a little coffee stirrer, get back together, break up again, etc. And, in case you missed it, the rumors are for sure swirling when it comes to Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes's oft-talked-about relationship.
Shawn and Camila have known each other as far back as 2014 but only officially started dating in July 2019.
It took a long time before they officially announced their relationship, but their feelings for each other reportedly go wayyy back. In a 2019 interview for Rolling Stone, Camila said that while she and Shawn had feelings for each other while working on their 2015 song “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” those feelings didn't result in a relationship. "We were both really young," she said. "I don’t think we knew what to do with those feelings. It was this awkward thing where we both liked each other, but we weren’t together."
The relationship lasted two and a half years before Shawn and Camila released a joint statement via their Instagram stories announcing their breakup in November 2021.
"We've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever," they wrote.
While the two kept in touch and remained good friends, they were thought to be firmly separated. That is, until Coachella 2023, when the pair were seen kissing — très scandaleux!

According to Us Weekly, a source close to the pair revealed that "Shawn and Camila are not back together" following their Coachella outing. The kiss was apparently "no big deal" — but despite that, the pair have been spotted out together a few times since April.
Then they were spotted last weekend in the VIP tent at MetLife Stadium, sharing a dance on the Eras Tour. And I do feel compelled to mention that they weren't dancing to just anything: The song in question happened to be "Lover," Taylor Swift's made-for-weddings ballad about, well, being hopelessly in love.
A walk in New York might not be enough to get dating rumors circulating again, but dancing together at a Taylor Swift concert is pretty damning.
The two left the show early, but not before Shawn reportedly planted a kiss on her cheek. Juicy. Is it safe to say they're back together?

It's worth mentioning that Camila and Shawn are both good friends with Taylor, and they've also both worked with her professionally. In 2018, Camila was an opener on Taylor's Reputation stadium tour, alongside Charli XCX:
And in 2019, Shawn and Taylor released a remix of "Lover," the very song he and Camila were seen dancing to.
Taylor tours seem to be something that has brought them together in the past. They spent a lot of time together backstage at the 1989 world tour in 2015, when Shawn opened for Taylor.
Is love in the air? All I can tell you is that if I was at a Taylor Swift concert with my ex, let alone if I was dancing to "Lover," the rumors would be pretty hard to deny.
